Welcome to our magical corner in the Upper Savinja Valley, where tradition meets comfort.
The meaning of the word “kajža” (a small, simple house) perfectly aligns with our idyllic wooden cottage, built, in the old tradition, from untreated larch wood that naturally turns silver over time, fully renovated and surrounded by breathtaking views. It offers the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Here, in the tranquility of Kolovrat, just a few minutes from Mozirje, you will find a genuine connection with nature and the warm hospitality of what was once our family home.
Our “kajža” stands on the site of an old cellar, one of many that adorn the sunny, vineyard-covered slopes of Kolovrat. The sun truly unleashes its energy here. Our bees, residing in the nearby apiary, and the Cameroonian sheep that greet us almost at our doorstep, thrive in this environment.
Tradition and a deep connection with nature and the surroundings are our guiding principles, on which we want to build our future and share it with our guests.
We believe it’s the little things that make all the difference. Our “kajža” holds many small surprises, lovingly crafted by local designers and artisans. We would be delighted if these details capture your interest.
Surrounding
In and around the village, you will find various restaurants, coffee shops, and pizzerias. You can enjoy a tasty lunch for as little as €7, though prices are higher at the three-star restaurant in the village center. A cup of coffee on one of the many cozy terraces costs around €1.50.
Just outside Mozirje, you’ll find the well-known Mozirski Gaj flower park, a beautiful place to stroll through vibrant gardens. A 15-minute drive away, near the mining town of Velenje, lies a popular swimming lake that attracts many visitors in summer. Nearby, you can also explore the Mining Museum and the historic Velenjski Grad castle.
A trip to the ski resort on Mount Golte and the nearby Mozirski Dom is a unique experience, whether in winter or summer. For outdoor enthusiasts, cycling and horseback riding tours are available in the surrounding area.
A visit to Slovenia’s only cathedral, located in Gornji Grad, is also well worth it.
The Slovenian capital, Ljubljana, can be reached within an hour via scenic backroads, making it a perfect destination for a day trip.
Location
Our holiday home is located at the beginning of the beautiful Savinja Valley, in the Mozirje area, next to the hamlet of Ljubija. In Mozirje, you will find several supermarkets for your daily shopping, as well as a bakery, two drugstores, and a pharmacy.
The villages of Ljubija and the larger Mozirje are within walking distance of your holiday home, where you can explore cozy cafés and local shops. For additional amenities and a wider selection of stores, the village of Nazarje is just a 10-minute drive away.
